The Kentucky Monk waxes eloquent

I like Alan Creech. He is a deep thinker and beyond that, he writes well. He is a kind of "emerging" monk, whatever that is. Three of his recent posts express this well: Remain in Me; We Have to be Mystics; and Monastic Dreaming. I can't really understand half the things he writes about and he practices a form of spirituality that is foreign to me. But he is challenging, for sure. Keep it up, Br. Alan.

Alan Creech interviews...himself

An excerpt:

"Q.
So, Alan, how long have you been blogging and why did you start doing this anyway? (and you look quite handsome today by the way)
Well, oh, thanks - yeah, I think I started a blog (online journal) in 2001 maybe. I refused to call it a blog for a while. It just sounded so stupid. It's an ugly word. Anyway, I just wanted to put my thoughts and words "out there" to share and to connect with people who were thinking and talking about the same or similar things."

Amazing! More here>>>.

The Kentucky monk on meditating...

I think Alan Creech would like to be an emerging church monk, whatever that means. Here's a quote from his recent post on meditation: "The word meditation is akin to "chewing," like chewing a cud. You put it in your proverbial mouth and chew on it and chew on it, and then chew on it some more. I've heard that it may not be good to even know what you're going to meditate about when you go into your meditation. Rather, you should be open - emptying yourself - not injecting something into it before anything comes. I think this is probably true, for the most part." If you are so inclined, you can read more here >>>.
